The other day I picked up the Sparkle IM App for the iPhone from Genkii. This is the first app for the iPhone which is a Second Life® client. There is a web app client for Ajax life but this is the first app so far that I have seen, which is a full iPhone app. The app also works on the iPod touch. It lets you log into where you want, home or any other sim. It allows you to view friends, im and teleport them. It also allows you to talk in public chat. Very usefully if you are out of town. It also allows you to connect to the beta grid and to Open Sim. It would be cool if it allowed some profile, group, and search functions, but as is it is a nice and easy way to log on with an iPhone if you need. I tested it on both a wifi and 3G connections and it worked fine and fast with no delay on both. As with many 3rd party clients one does have to be careful about using main accounts and passwords so I have set this up with my commutation alt avatar that I use for Ajax Life and other non Linden Lab® clients. Being in Japan it cost 600yen. More information can be found on the Genkii site. Below the break are some screen shots of the app.
