XstreetSL.com (formally SLExchange.com) finally has their long awaited vendor system the Xvend for beta testing. I am lucky to be one of the beta testers. XstreetSL.com's main competition onrez.com as well as Apez.biz have had vendors for a quite awhile. But now the giant of Second Life® related commerce sites now is preparing their own. I believe XstreetSL.com has been working with Hippo Technologies to create this vendor system. It is very similar to the Hippo system inworld and in the product set up online. If you have any products on XstreetSL.com already all you basically have to do to set up the system is load your inworld textures for your items by adding them to your XstreetSL.com Magic box. On the website you then associate the textures with the items in the vendor product page and set the price. The description and the category the items from the regular XstreetSL.com listing is carried over to the vendor product set up page but the price is not carried over. You can also create a notecard for each item, as well as keywords for each. In the vendor set up you can set vendors to display by category or by keywords making it easy to rez many vendors for different ranges of Items you may sell. As the system is still in beta I am sure there will be many changes before the final version is released. I am hoping that the regular Hippo Tech version will come with some kind of plug-in so we can link that over and be able to use the different ranges of vendors that are offered by Hippo Tech. If you would like to see a working version of this beta vendor I have one in my office in the server room to the right when you enter the office at this teleport. It will be interesting to see how the Xvend system will work out when it is done and how many content creators will take use of it.
